Emergency Response  EHS is an integral part of the Campus Emergency Response Team (all emergencies are coordinated with the OSU Police Dept. as needed).
Trained EHS personnel (on call 24-hours-a-day) respond to all fire alarms, ambulance calls, natural gas leaks, major chemical spills and other incidents that may pose a danger to any person on OSU property. This includes response to all grass fires on OSU range land as well as calls for assistance from the Stillwater Fire Department.

Safety Inspection All University-owned buildings are inspected at least twice a year for hazardous conditions. If any violations are found, Fire/Safety Reminders are issued to responsible department heads.  Fire drills are conducted in all residence halls, children's day-care, and the Student Health Clinic at intervals required by state law.  Permits are issued for welding or other hot work being conducted by any campus or contractor personnel working in any University-owned building.  Entry into confined spaces is also regulated and permitted.

Inspections of all public event set-ups (stage, seating, electrical lines, etc.) help to ensure the safety of OSU students as well as the general public during any large organized event.  EHS also provides crowd control and EMS services.

Maintenance & Testing All fire alarm systems are tested at least twice a year. EHS conducts all maintenance on fire alarm, fire suppression and security alarm systems in campus buildings.
