Material Safety Data Sheets

In this section, you need to address material safety data sheets.

Somewhere, you should have a collection of all the material safety data sheets for all the hazardous substances to which employees in your unit may be exposed. These must be available to all employees at all times they are at work. Employees must be notified where these MSDSs are kept.

If you work in an office environment, you might put the actual MSDSs in this section, since you won't have too many. If you work in an environment where you need to file a large number of MSDSs, you should probably separate them into a separate file or three ring binder and arrange them alphabetically. EHS has stickers ( 1, 2) available for marking this binder so it is readily visible to employees. Order these labels via the EHS Signs and Labels Order Form.
